Des Moines fire crews have had a busy Tuesday, responding to businesses with frozen sprinkler pipes.

Fire officials say all of the pipes they’ve looked at Tuesday had no insulation, or were improperly insulated.

They are currently on the scene of a broken water line at Lincoln High School on Southwest 9th. A spokesman for Des Moines Schools says it’s causing water to leak into the commons area and the cafeteria.

Firefighters also say, to keep their hoses from freezing up, they are leaving water running through the pumps in this frigid weather.
