An effort to clarify felon voter rights could appear on voter registration forms later this year.

On the current form, convicted felons must check a box stating whether their voting rights have been restored.

The new form removes that question and instead states convicted felons must request to have their rights restored through the governor’s office.

The change was requested by the American Civil Liberties Union and should be finalized by April.
