Windsor Heights officials released the name of the man who died in a crash Thursday night.

Police said they were called just after 10 p.m. for a car that slid out of control on the slick road and crashed into the intersection of 66 and Mott Avenue.  There police said they found a vehicle that hit a utility pole.

Rescuers were able to free the driver, 33-year-old Nicholas Smith, who was trapped in the wreckage.  Smith was the only person in the car and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash.
