Same-sex marriage was legalized in Iowa back in 2009.  The new additions to the marriage business has boosted revenues for local business while the ability for same-sex couples to marry has become a national movement.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad said he believes marriage should be between one-man and one-woman.  He said he thought the people of Iowa should have been able to vote on the issue so people would know where Iowans truly stand on the issue.

Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds said she agreed with Gov. Branstad on the definition of marriage.  Reynolds added that while she had explored other political opportunities, she felt she would do the best for Iowans right here in the state.
