The City of Des Moines is offering a new program that will benefit children and parents.

It’s Friday night date night.

You can pay $21 and drop your kids off at the Four Mile Community Center. The staff will watch kids ages five and up from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The idea is to give enough time for mom and dad to get away for a bit, maybe go out to dinner.

And those watching the kids aren’t just going to plug in a movie, “It gives parents a night out, kids come down can come down to the community center to have a good time,” says Jen Fletcher.

“They can learn how to make a meal, make a craft. They can come to the gym and burn off some energy, play on the bounce house – it’s a lot of fun.”

The next chance to participate is Friday, February 7th. You must register at DMParks.org by the 4th.

Officials say you do not have to be a Des Moines resident to participate.
