A Marshalltown woman is charged with child endangerment after police found her children living in dangerous conditions.

Marshalltown Police say they went to a home in the 900 block of Stegman Boulevard Wednesday to serve a search warrant for stolen property. During the search, officers found daggers, syringes, glass pipes, and dog feces.

Officials say all the items were within reach of 22-year-old Shelby Peak’s two children, ages one and three.

Peak has been charged with two counts of child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Marshall County Jail.

The children have been removed from the home and placed in protective custody by the Department of Human Services.
