TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT: Over 100 Cited On I-235

Drivers may have noticed more flashing lights along Interstate-235 Friday.

Several agencies put extra police between 50th Street in West Des Moines and 63rd Street in Windsor Heights.

Authorities issued 114 citations, the majority of which were for speeding.

Four arrests were made – two for driving while suspended, one for driving while barred and one warrant arrest.

Officers also cited 10 drivers for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and two for seatbelt violations.

The project ran for about five hours ending just after the noon hour.
