NBC's Bob Costas has been the face of the Olympic games for the better part of the last three decades. Now the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are only a few weeks away but many are more concerned with safety than sports after multiple bombings and terrorism threats in Russia.
Costas said he feels relatively safe going to the Olympic games in Sochi because Russian President Vladimir Putin has stepped up the security for a large part of the area surrounding the Olympics. He said while in the safety patrolled area, he felt very safe but outside of the area it would likely be very dangerous.
Costas added that the relationship between President Putin and President Obama has been strained recently, particularly after Obama announced he will be sending three openly gay athletes for U.S. representatives to the games.
