The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says an unusually high number of recent thefts and burglaries have been reported.

In most cases, the thieves are targeting homes during the day, while people are at work.

The last reported event happened while a woman was in her home with the doors locked.  She told deputies two men came to the door, knocked loudly, and then checked other doors to see if they were unlocked.

During the past month, thieves have taken: ATVs, a skid loader, tools, cash and large amounts of copper wire, most of which has been taken from grain bins.

You’re asked to call Jasper County authorities if you can help identify suspects who are committing these crimes.
