If you are watching the Super Bowl at a friend’s house or a bar in Ames this Sunday, the Ames Police Department wants to make sure you stay safe.

Ames police as well as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the NFL are spreading the message, “Fans don’t let fans drive drunk.”

Ames police say before choosing to drink, pick a sober designated driver. If not, take a cab or stay the night.

If you’re hosting a party, make sure your guests have a plan to get home safely, serve food and non-alcoholic drinks, stop serving alcohol at the end of the third quarter and keep cab numbers on hand.

Police are also reminding everyone to buckle up.
