The people of Iowa have never elected a woman governor or member of Congress but there are a handful of female candidates looking to change that this year.

Former Attorney General Bonnie Campbell is warning them to be careful with their campaigns.  Campbell said it’s much harder for a woman to be negative during campaign season as it often reflects poorly on her, not her opponent.

“I had that experience myself.  People know you and they say gee, you’re such a nice person, what are you doing with that nasty rotten ad? I really think it adds a different dimension,” Campbell said.

Campbell’s full comments on campaign ads and the candidates running for office are available on the Insiders.
