Overnight tonight temperatures will dip into the single digits before warmer weather arrives for Monday.

Monday will be another dry day with more sunshine and highs in the 20s. A few 30s are possible as well, melting some of the fresh snow. Unfortunately snow returns on Tuesday. A WINTER STORM WATCH is in place for Southern Iowa from 6AM Tuesday to 6AM Wednesday. Des Moines is included.

Snow will be heaviest on Tuesday during the afternoon and early evening, potentially making a mess of the evening commute. Des Moines is expected to see around 4" of snow, with 6 to 7" possible along the Missouri border.

Winds will be strong during and after the snow, with wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph possible. In southern Iowa, this will make travel difficult through early Wednesday. Then, as temperatures drop, dangerous wind chills will be possible Wednesday as well.
