One of Iowa's biggest and most recent political problems was the Sorenson scandal. State Senator Kent Sorenson resigned last year after a special investigator found he took thousands to support Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign and then took more money to switch his endorsement to Ron Paul's campaign.
Former Democrat Attorney General Bonnie Campbell said the issue is a tricky one because people are often paid to be involved with politics, but whether they should be is a different question.
Former GOP nominee for Iowa Governor and party activist Doug Gross said the situation is always difficult because the house and senate have different rules. He said that the biggest issue comes when politicians lie about what happened.
