One Sunday sports event caught the country’s attention, but it wasn’t the Super Bowl.

Animal Planet’s tenth annual Puppy Bowl was held on Sunday and a few Iowa dogs were a big part of the action.

On Sunday, Suri and Cici joined other dogs and their owners at a Shueyville Restaurant for a Puppy Bowl watch party.

Every year, the Puppy Bowl seeks out rescue and shelter dogs like Suri and Cici.

“It’s really exciting to have the two here.  To have all the great turn out here and all the support from the community and everything, it’s just totally awesome.  Just a great, great day,” said Carl Bromberg, Suri’s owner.

There was also a metro dog featured in the big game.  Taser is an Italian Grey Hound from Urbandale.  His family adopted him last year from a shelter in Chicago.
