Thanks to surveillance cameras, Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies were able to catch two suspected thieves.

Forty-year-old Randy Birkenholtz and 20-year-old Christian Wolfe, both of Newton, have been arrested and charged with theft.

Star Auto in Sully and the city of Kellogg have both reported items stolen since June, ranging from scrap metal to iron sewer grates. Surveillance video allowed deputies to get suspect and vehicle descriptions.

That led authorities to a Newton home, where the suspects and stolen items were found.

The Jasper County Sheriff`s Office is still investigating more reports of theft in the area.
