The Johnston Mayor signed a proclamation at Monday night’s city council meeting proclaiming that February 8 would be kite flying day.

Mayor Paula Dierenfeld signed the proclamation at the meeting alongside plans for the kite celebration in May, “Kites on the Green”.   February 8 is recognized in many countries as kite flying day.

While many Iowans may not brave the cold and the snow this Saturday to fly a kite, they may want to consider participating in the May kite event. The city announced plans for workshops on how to fly and build kites along with other kite-themed activities for the “Kites on the Green” event.

    But then it’s cookie cutterville…
