The doctor who treated a new born baby found outside in subzero temperatures last week says it’s highly unlikely he was left outside for more than 24 hours.
Kayden Powell was abducted from his Wisconsin home early last Thursday morning.
Hours later his aunt, Kristen Smith, was arrested at a West Branch gas station on an outstanding warrant.
The next morning, 29 hours later, Kayden was found wrapped in blankets and had been placed in a storage tote a few hundred feet away from where his aunt was arrested.
Amazingly Kayden was in good condition.
The doctor who saw him after he was found says there's no way the six day old boy was left alone outside that entire time.
"I would have expected, at best, a very severely ill appearing infant who would've been extremely cold,” Dr. Jeffrey Segar told sister station KWWL. "I cannot believe, from a medical standpoint, that that infant could have been outside for 29 hours."
The FBI will not say if it believes Kayden was outside for the entire 29 hours or if they are looking for any other suspects. All they will say is the case remains under investigation.
Kristen Smith remains in custody at the Cedar County Jail. She is facing federal kidnapping charges for allegedly carrying Kayden across state lines.
