A former Des Moines youth pastor pleaded guilty to two sexual abuse charges, Tuesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ryan McKelvey was charged in August 2013 after a teenage girl and her parents went to Des Moines police, claiming the teen had been sexually assaulted.

McKelvey is a former youth pastor at Heritage Assembly of God Church

During the investigation, police discovered a second victim in the case. McKelvey was charged with two counts of third degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist.

The plea means McKelvey avoids a trial which was due to start Wednesday. Sentencing is set for March 24.

Actually, you are wrong. When a car causes an accident, to whom do you fine or present at the court? The car or the driver? Similarly, you cannot find a church guilty because of what a pastor done. Church did never ever teaches him to do so.

He was most likly giving his victims comfort in prayer just before going in for the kill. I’m glad My parents didn’t make me go to a church and get molested.

Ryan is a wolf in sheep’s clothing Marianne, taking advantage of those weaker than him. He didn’t plead guilty to anything that he didn’t do and the details are more disturbing than what is widely known. Don’t feel sorry for Ryan, he deserves the punishment that he will get. He knew full well that it was wrong to do what he did and he said so himself.

Go to church to be molested HUH? Over 3.3 million cases of child abuse is reported a year. 330,000 of those cases are sexual and they say more than 50% of that is not reported. There was more than 25,000 cases of sexual abuse in public schools alone, over 200 cases in cub scouts and girl scouts. Let’s not forget amusement parks, public pools, and Chuck E. Cheese. Any time you send your child out in public unsupervised you run the risk. Here is a fact for you, less than 2% of the 330,000 is reported about churches. So let your mind be clouded, and I will pray for you. As Christians we are supposed to be a ray of hope in this messed up world. It is not up to us to judge; Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. We all need to walk and understand no judge sentence will be greater than my God’s because on judgement day you and I have to be accountable for all of our wrong doings. Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. The man plead guilty so there is no false accusations.
So with that said, I pray for Ryan. I pray especially for his family and what they are going through. Remember don’t judge. He was a youth pastor, he knew right from wrong. He chose a wrong path.
But most importantly I pray for the victims; the uncertainty that they are going through, the confusions, the why, and the bad dreams. The mothers and fathers; the strain and anger and how to fix something that can’t be fixed without prayer and time. Remember this world is messed up. Humble yourselves and pray for this country. And if you are unsaved; pray for your salvation and your children. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. That means good or bad. God bless you all. And may god bless the paths you chose.
