A Knoxville School District employee is on paid administrative leave while police investigate an alleged act of misconduct involving a student.

Superintendent Randy Flack says the allegation was made by a student against an employee at the high school on Tuesday. The name of the employee was not released.

Flack says the district is cooperating with the Knoxville Police Department in the investigation.

Knoxville Police Chief Daniel Losada says the investigation could take days or weeks to complete.

"When we get to the point where we believe we have sufficient evidence to file criminal charges, we will consult with the Marion County Attorney’s Office upon their approval then we would either file charges or make an arrest," commented Losada.
