A Story County driver accused of hitting a pedestrian will not be charged.

The incident happened Thursday just before noon.

The Story County Sheriff’s Office says 70-year-old Kenneth Frey was driving north on 630th Avenue and there was a semi-truck on the west side of the road with a man working behind the truck’s trailer.

An accident report shows Frey drove next to the truck and hit 36-year-old Jeffrey Steven’s knee with the back side of his pickup truck.

Witnesses saw the truck drove away and reported the license plate to the sheriff’s office. A deputy caught up with Frey who said he had no idea he had hit Steven.

The Story County Attorney’s Office has decided not to charge the driver.

Thought the law says you are to move over for someone on the side of the road. Why no charges?

  • In Story County, it might just be the driver is a friend of the sheriff or county attorney, that’s how they roll

  • Croliss says:

Story County attorney has been letting a lot of people off the hook for things for a while now. Back in December a couple of years back a lady was physically aggressive towards a deputy when pulled over, she drove off and tried to hide in a Casey’s, leaving two little kids in the back seat alone, and had to be physically subdued in the Casey’s. County attorney dropped all charges and even sent the sheriff out to apologize to her.
