A Senate subcommittee began discussions Monday on a bill designed to protect privacy in the use of drones.

Senate File 2157 would prohibit individuals and state agencies from collecting information with a drone or other unmanned aircrafts without the property owner`s permission.

There would be exceptions for law enforcement in some cases.

There are several other bills on this topic in circulation at the Statehouse. While the committee began discussion today, they didn’t take action on the bill yet. The bill must win committee approval by Friday to remain relevant this session.
