A BLIZZARD WARNING will be in effect from 9 AM until 6 AM Friday for Carroll, Guthrie, Adair, Audubon, Calhoun, Humboldt, Greene, Kossuth, Pocahontas, Webster, and Mahaska.

A BLIZZARD WARNING will be in effect from Noon until 6 AM Friday for Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Boone, Franklin, Hamilton, Hardin, Marshall, Story, and Wright.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will be in effect from 9 AM until 6 AM Friday for Adams, Clark, Decatur, Lucas, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, and Warren.

A WIND ADVISORY will be in effect from Noon until 6 AM Friday for Appanoose, Davis, Monroe, Wapello, and Wayne.

Thursday Timeline:

11 AM to Noon: Rain Transition to Snow

Noon to 7 PM: Heavy Wet Snow

3 PM to 6 AM: Winds increase to 20 to 30 MPH, Gusts to 50 MPH

Des Moines will see around 2 to 3" of snow. North Central Iowa will see 4 to 6". Southern Iowa will see an 1.5" or less of snow.

Damage to trees and power lines may occur due to the combination of heavy wet snow and strong winds.
