Road conditions were so bad in parts of Iowa overnight the Iowa Department of Transportation closed part of Interstate 35.

I-35 from U.S. 30 near Ames to exit 194 near Clear Lake was closed overnight because of accidents. Blowing and drifting snow mad it very difficult for tow trucks trying to clear cars off the road.

The road was re-opened to traffic a little before 7:00 Friday morning.

Emergency crews were out helping any drivers that were already on the road and had become stranded.
