HAROLD RAMIS: Writer, Actor, Director Dies

Harold Ramis, who co-starred in “Ghostbusters” and directed several comedy films including “Groundhog Day” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation” has died at the age of 69.

The longtime Chicago native died early Monday morning after a long illness, according to WGN. His health fell into decline in May 2010 after he had surgery for diverticulitis and suffered complications related to the autoimmune disease. He died surrounded by family members, according to his wife.

Ramis’ body of work includes writing credits on comedy classics “National Lampoon’s Animal House,” “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters.” His directorial efforts include “Caddyshack,” “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and “Groundhog Day.”
