The attorney for accused murderer Seth Techel is appealing to the Iowa Supreme Court to get his client freed on bond before his next trial.
Techel, who is being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond, is charged with first degree murder in the death of his pregnant wife Lisa in 2012. Prosecutors say he shot and killed her in order to pursue a relationship with another woman.
Techel’s previous two trials were declared mistrials because jurors were unable to reach a verdict.
He has remained behind bars since he was originally arrested.
His third trial is scheduled to begin July 14th in Scott County.
