IMPACT STUDIES: Linn County Casino Would Take Revenue
Two recent studies show a proposed casino in Linn County could hurt other casinos in Iowa.
KWWL reports Union Gaming Analytics released a study predicting how the proposed Cedar Rapids casino would impact other casinos in Iowa.
The group concluded there are no underserved counties in Iowa when it comes to gaming. It also found the proposed casino would take more than $10.9 million away from the Meskwaki casino.
Riverside, the Isle in Waterloo, Diamond Jo, and Mystique casinos would also lose revenue.
Union Gaming Analytics recommends the state refrain from additional casino licenses at this time.
The second study released Tuesday, from Marquette Advisors, predicts Riverside could also lose millions of dollars in revenue if the Cedar Rapids casino is built.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will make a decision April 17th about whether Cedar Rapids investors will get a casino license.
