The Iowa Supreme Court will decide a state worker’s case against the governor and other state officials.

In 2006, then-governor Tom Vilsack appointed Chris Godfrey to be the state’s workers compensation commissioner. Godfrey’s term expires next year.

Godfrey says last year, Gov. Terry Branstad asked for his resignation then cut his salary substantially when he refused to quit. Godfrey claims Branstad wants him to resign because he is openly gay.

The governor says he asked for Godfrey’s resignation based on his job performance not his sexual orientation.

The trial is set to begin Tuesday.

  • William Denison

This young amn can’t get a fair trial in Iowa. Terry Braindead would go after the judge if he sides with Mr.Godfrey. I would appeal it if the courts sides with KIng Terry.

  • two sides.

or, maybe he isn’t meeting the needs of the job any longer and doesn’t want to admit it to himself or anyone else.

    • Linn

very possible he doesn’t meet the requirements of the job — but its easier for him to blame Branstad & try to get more money, etc.

    • Kendra

Or he was discriminated because he’s gay. Your screen name says it, there are two sides. It’s not black or white so don’t make assumptions.

  • William Denison

Most state workers are lazy and worthless and keep their jobs for 30 years. The state never fires anyone for being worthless.

  • two sides.

Wow….stereotype much? You don’t think they would fire him for not doing his job, but, you are right out there jumping on the band wagon to believe they would fire him because of who he chooses to date?
