President Obama released his USDA budget for fiscal year 2015 this week.
As presented by USDA the budget provides the resources to support crop insurance coverage on an estimated $63 billion in crop production. It has Plant and Animal Pest and Disease Control Programs protecting a $165 billion of livestock, poultry, and specialty crops. And there’s nearly a $140 billion for assistance in supporting agricultural trade.
U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says the President’s proposed budget gets results and reform.
Former Ag Secretary and Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns disagrees with the proposal, he calls it a political tool that spends and taxes more while not addressing entitlement reforms.
