The Ballard Bombers girls basketball team used the three point shooting of sophomore Meredith Ossian to lift the team to a 55-45 win over Davenport Assumption at the state tournament Wednesday.

The team from eastern Iowa was trying to secure its 4th straight championship, but its hopes were stopped by the Bombers.

Ballard got out of sync and was down 27-22 at the half. Coach Kelly Anderson said they talked a lot at halftime about keeping Assumption off the boards. Ballard had to rely on defense to close the game, not scoring a field goal for the last 5 minutes, instead relying on free throws.

Coach Anderson said he has not played sophomore Ossian enough. Ossian had 19 points, and was 4-5 from three point land. Emily Knittel led the Bombers with 21.
