Defending state champs Southeast Polk will now face Waterloo West in the semifinals
Bishop Algona Garrigan Danz Squad, winners of the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association, State Championship in Pom and Kick and for winning the Community Service and the Distinguished Academic Award, performing at halftime of the Southeast Polk West Des Moines Valley game.
The Wahawks bettered the Scarlets 69-57. Scarlet Head Coach Sam Powell said he is “very proud of his team, actually that’s an understatement.”
He said West’s ability to shoot free throws really hurt. “We tried to keep them off the line,” said Powell, “but their efforts were not successful. He said most of his seniors have been to state 3 out of 4 years. “Most people don’t do that,” he added.
Keisha Gaines, and Roichelle Marble each had 15 points for East,
Arrica Daye had 10 points. East concludes it’s season as CIML Champs, at 20-4.
