There was a very important stat, which MOC Floyd Valley's leading scorer did not know. What Alexis Conaway learned after her team defeated Mediapolis 64-51 was that her 46 points set a new five player scoring record.

The old record was set by Motezuma's Janel Grimm in 1994.

Conaway also grabbed 13 rebounds, made four steals and blocked two shots. She plans to play volleyball for Iowa State next year.

Head coach Gary Richardson called Alexi Conaway is the best player in the state, “When you look at the stats, she does dominate most categories."  He went on to say "the most humble lady in the world is Alexis Conaway."

Conaway said she was surprised and a little emotional when she learned of the record after the game. True to form she said "it didn't seem like I scored those points, it was the team that scored the points."

Also a state Champion volleyball player, she said she is looking forward to playing volleyball for ISU next fall, and concentrating on one sport.
