This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Overnight tonight mild temperatures will hang near the freezing point thanks to a breezy south wind.

That south wind will be in place through the first half of Friday, keeping temperatures in the mid-40s in Central and Southern Iowa. Temperatures will drop Friday night as a cold front crosses the state, bringing a mix or rain and snow to the area.

Most of the rain and snow along I-35 will come after 10pm Friday. Totals are expected to be minor...around 1.5" between Highway 30 and Highway 20, and generally less than an inch around Des Moines, though roads could be slick early Saturday.

Much warmer weather spills into the state on Sunday, with the 50s and even 60s by Monday!
