The Chairman of the Iowa Republican Party has announced he will be stepping down.

Party officials said Chairman A.J. Spiker sent a letter to the party’s central committee on Friday announcing he would step down as soon as a new chairman was elected.

Spiker has been the chairman for the Iowa GOP since 2010.

The election for a new chairman will take place at the quarterly business meeting on March 29.
