"Iowa nice" is a sentiment you hear across the state and it usually carries over to the senate floor at the state capitol building. But that wasn't the case this past week when two senators debate on a bill turned to a shouting match and worried spectators it could escalate into a physical altercation.
Senate Minority Leader Bill Dix said he wants people to remember that these people are politicians because they are passionate about the issues. Sometimes that passion can get out of hand like it did this week but it is unusual, he maintains. Dix said he tries to remind the members that they have to stand up for their constituents while remaining professional and courteous to all.
