Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey has filed for re-election.
Northey submitted his nomination petitions Tuesday morning at the Secretary of State’s Office.
The Spirit Lake farmer says he’s still got a lot of goals for Iowa. He says he wants to continue working with farmers to implement voluntary, science-based conservation practices to better protect Iowa soil and water.
Northey is currently serving his second term in office.
Democrat Sherrie Taha of Des Moines has announced her plans to challenge Northey. She is a commissioner for the Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District.
