There is about a month to go before the tax filing deadline and the state is reminding Iowans that they can get some help free of charge.
The Lieutenant Governor used the governor’s weekly news conference to give the reminder.
Iowa is one of 21 states, and the District of Columbia sponsoring a state free file program. It allows eligible taxpayers to easily and accurately complete both their federal and state taxes with trusted name-brand tax preparation software of their choice.
The Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds said anyone making less than $58,000 can use the system to file online for free, “Free file empowers taxpayers to take charge of their taxes and keep more of their hard earned money.”
More than 40 million people have used the free file system since it started more than a decade ago.
