The Senate Foreign Relations Committee met late last week for a hearing on the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline project.
Tennessee Senator and Ranking Member of the Foreign Relations Committee Bob Corker supported the pipeline, he says it will create jobs, reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil, and strengthen ties with Canada.
In opposition was Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune, he says developing the tar sands will exacerbate pollution and make the U.S. more dependent on dirty fossil fuels.
Canada's prime minister says they will develop the tar sands regardless of the Keystone Pipeline.
