Des Moines police are investigating an early morning shooting.

Officers were called to Iowa Lutheran Hospital to meet with a shooting victim at 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The 15-year-old told police he left a friend’s house and was walking near East 15th and Grand when someone asked him if he was in a gang.

The teen told police he said “no” and took off running.  He says that’s when he was shot in the ankle.

Police say the teen changed his story several times and later told officers there were three suspects instead of one.

Officers went to check out the area and were unable to find a crime scene.

No arrests have been reported.
