Windsor Heights has dropped its lawsuit against the Iowa Department of Transportation over traffic cameras.

The city filed the lawsuit in 2012 after the department denied a request to install cameras on Interstate-235.

However, the city’s attorney says the new DOT rules that took effect last month veto the city’s claims.

The rules require cities to prove that cameras being used on state maintained roads are necessary by filing regular crash data reports.
