At times, the Iowa State Cyclones looked like they were running out of gas Sunday night against the University of North Carolina.
ISU tried to overcome the loss of Georges Niang, one of their top players, who broke his foot in their previous game in the NCAA tournament. And they did. DeAndre Kane made a clutch lay up with two seconds left.
UNC couldn’t even get off a final shot as time expired. Iowa State beat UNC by a score of 85-83.
The Cyclones now play the University of Connecticut in a Sweet 16 match up at New York’s Madison Square Garden Friday.
