This month’s USDA reports have been good for corn and soybean prices, but there are still several, highly anticipated reports coming out this month.
The Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report will be out on Friday. University of Illinois Ag Economist Darrel Good says this report will give insight into potential feed demand. Other analysts hope to finally know the number of piglet deaths due to Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus.
The quarterly Grains Stocks report will come out on Monday, March 31st. Good says the report will reveal the magnitude of stocks of corn and soybeans. Combined with the Hogs and Pigs report, the market will have a good projection for feed and residual use of corn for the marketing year.
The final anticipated report is the annual Prospective Plantings report that will also come out on Monday the 31st. Good says with the favorable price of soybeans relative to other crops there is an expectation of considerably more soybean acreage in 2014. Producers will also be able to adjust their planting intentions.
