A fired agent with the Division of Criminal Investigation is willing to settle his lawsuit against the state as long as he gets his job back.
Larry Hedlund was placed on leave last May and eventually fired. He is suing the state saying a 500-page report about his termination was illegally shared with an independent investigator.
The decision to place Hedlund on leave came one month after he filed a complaint against a state trooper in charge of driving Governor Branstad. The trooper was not pulled over despite being caught on radar going 19-miles per hour above the speed limit.
The Branstad administration says the firing had nothing to do with the complaint.
Hedlund is now willing to drop his lawsuit if he is reinstated to the division of criminal investigation.
“We’re interested. We don’t know if they are,” Duff said. “We reached out, but so far it’s been deafening silence,” Hedlund’s attorney told the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
