New details have emerged into a possible reason why the directors of a dozen state agencies offered secret settlements to state workers who were let go.

The settlements involved 24 employees who received more than $400,000.
As part of the agreements, the workers were required to withdraw complaints against the state.

According to the Des Moines Register, some of the complaints involved allegations of age discrimination and retaliation against whistle blowers.

Governor Branstad says he was unaware of the secret settlements. He says they happened as part of a reorganization process.

“Confidentially provisions that prevent disclosure of agreements are wrong,” Branstad said Monday. “What really galls me is that when the people are kept in the dark and as a result of that, they suspect bad things are going on.”

Branstad adds that reorganization has been saving the state more than $700,000 a year.

Not GOP. Have no use for GOP RINOs… I am a registered Conservative. They are doing nothing, and basically, a new pro-America candidate(s) is needed, and not a political label. Nothing is perfect, and it’s not about all of one sided or singular faceted. Everyone at the end of the day, is American, and I give it balance. At times, I have guest articles written by retired liberal journalists that present their material on an even keel without hysterics, and it works. Do I follow conservative blog sites, and writers? Yes, I do. That’s why it is my blog. I do not need to include my background, as the readers all know it. How about your blog, William? Why not? Why the mystery gravitar? It’s easy enough that even I can do it.

I’m beyond middle aged. I am a USMC/Vietnam combat veteran and retired detective sergeant.
I figured you were some kind of pothead but that’s your business. Typical of liberal mindset and again, it’s a decision that only you will make.
I just started using computers about five years ago. Don’t like them. Putting the word out there and that’s about all.

Really what is it going to take to get rid of Branstad & Reynolds??? Just what do they both know about what is going on in the state they are supposed to be in control of.and working in our best interest. His course of action seems to be deny, deny & deny some more. Reynolds always looks like a deer in the headlights so I render them both worthless. Just a reminder to both of them SPEED KILLS!!!!

what we need is an honest democrat:
Honest democrat. Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who ya are.
Lets see, fast and furious, Benghazi, IRS scandal, Obamacare, I’ll be transparent, tax the Rich, I’ll walk the picket line with you, this list is endless. But of course all the low income people are doing so much better now after his sixth year in office. But no lies huh?
And blaming bush for two wars, I guess you people think an apoligy should have been good enough for the trade centers on 9/11.
I wonder what the nobel peace prize people think of your honest democrats now.
And then attacking Branstad after Culver. Do any Democrats read anymore or what?
It really doesn’t help when the media seems to be bought and paid for by the Democrats these days.
