The West Des Moines City Council has approved a resolution to provide a planned new data center project with economic incentives.
The measure aimed at luring “Project Alluvion” to West Des Moines would give developers up to $18 million in infrastructure improvements and payments. The money would come from tax increment financing.
Documents show the project, when completed, will have a minimum taxable assessed value of $255 million and will create 84 jobs in the metro.
The company pushing the project remains a mystery.
The Iowa Economic Development Authority is expected to discuss the project at its Friday meeting.
The project is also seeking rebates on construction materials through the High Quality Jobs Program.
