PRESIDENT’S PROBLEMS: Santorum Blames ‘Incompetence’ and ‘Lies’

The 2012 Iowa Caucus winner, Rick Santorum, had strong words to describe why he thinks President Obama’s popularity is as low as it is, even in Iowa, where the former Illinois Senator’s first presidential campaign first took off in 2008.

“I think, generally, incompetence. He put forth his major plan to fix a health care system that had serious problems. He’s made it worse. He didn’t tell the truth,” Santorum told Channel 13.

Santorum said even those who once supported Obama’s presidential efforts have now turned against him because of the problems with the Afford Care Act.

“When you give someone the opportunity to do something big, which the American public did and you mishandle it as bad as he has, and then you lie to the American public about it, that’s a problem,” the former Pennsylvania Senator said.

Santorum spent Wednesday evening in Waukee at a fundraiser for Secretary of State Matt Schultz, who is running for the Republican nomination in the 3rd Congressional District. Schultz was the first prominent Iowa Republican to back Santorum’s caucus campaign in 2011.

Santorum will be a guest on Channel 13′s “The Insiders” Sunday morning at 9:30a.m. He will discuss how he will decide whether to run for president again, why he would have any more success after failing the first time and why he hasn’t endorsed his good friend Sam Clovis’ U.S. Senate campaign.
