Friday's Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report was bearish, with no numbers outside of pre-report expectations.
All hogs and pigs as of March 1st are recorded at 62.9 million head; three percent lower than last year's inventory at this time.
Pigs per litter, a strong indicator of the severity of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus, was down only five percent from last year's numbers, at 9.53.
Farrowing intentions for the March-May quarter are two percent higher than last year, at 2.88 million sows. The June-August quarter is also two percent higher, at 2.96 million sows.
