The Iowa Cubs’ job is doing whatever it takes to make the Chicago Cubs better.

Cub nation hopes a future superstar won't spend too much time in Des Moines.

The Cubs' top prospect is 21-year-old Javier Baez. He starts the season in an Iowa uniform after playing last year in Daytona and Tennessee.

The native of Puerto Rican is rated one of the top five prospects in the Minors.

Baez has no problem starting the season in Triple-A.

“I’m here, I’m excited to play every day and to play in front of a lot of fans,” Baez told Channel 13.

The I-Cubs’ roster features 10 players on the Chicago Cubs four man roster and 13 players with Major League experience.

Opening day is Thursday, 6:35 p.m. against Memphis Redbirds.
