The man who was shot by police after they say he drove into a crime scene last month is now facing charges.

Shawntee Young is charged with two counts of assault or display of a dangerous weapon. He is out on bond after police arrested him Saturday.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of 15th Street on March 20th.

Police blocked off an area to investigate. As they looked for evidence Young allegedly started speeding toward the crime scene.

Officers say they ordered Young to stop but he refused and three officers opened fire.

Young told Channel 13 last week he went around the car, not realizing it was a police car, and officers opened fire for no reason.

Young was in the hospital for over a week after being shot twice in the back.

The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

You bet he was charged. Thats what corrupt cops due. Got to press charges to justify shooting a unarmed man who made a wrong turn. What if he had kids with him? Law enforcement can bring charges to a house plant if they wanted to. This means nothing. I’d sue them until the cows come home.

when the cops won’t release the video, somethings up. Kind of quick draw huh. People do make mistakes. This guy made a big one. Sure hope the cops settle out of court, a jury won’t be sympathetic after hearing this guy doesn’t have a record. Quick drop some drugs in his car.
