Police in Cedar Rapids are investigating a double homicide.

Authorities responded to a report of a shooting just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday. They arrived to find two people who’d been shot in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue Southeast.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 22-year-old Quintrell Perkins and 20-year-old Sierrah Simmons.

The murders are the fifth and sixth homicides in Cedar Rapids this year. In 2013 there were only three homicides for the entire year.
