Two people have been arrested on drug charges after the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force served a search warrant at a Colfax home.

The warrant was served Wednesday around 5:45 p.m. at 223 South Montgomery. Officials discovered illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia during the search.

Forty-nine-year-old Paul Deaton and 46-year-old Jacqueline Deaton are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, failure to affix drug tax stamp, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jacqueline Deaton also faces charges of possession of Schedule II drug and possession of prescription pills without a prescription.

The Deatons were taken to the Polk County Jail.

Three children under the age of 18 were removed from the home under the Jasper County Drug Endangered Children Program. They’ve been placed in a drug free environment.

When Beautiful Colorado wakes up and sees it’s too late, she will fall to her knees and weep for her children.

Like the finale in “The Bridge on the River Kwai” when Alec Guinness, playing the mad British Colonel uttered: “What have I done?”

I do not care what anyone says or is ttrying to make weed legal, point blank it has been federally illegal period! I have a zero toerance policy and will continue to do so. Now what I find appalling is that these two are distributing this stuff in the town north of my hometown so I am glad these two were caught.

A slight correction to what I had posted earlier, marijuana is illegal in practically every state and when you are packaging it to resell that is a felony so you take your own chances of risking jail time over this crap.
Again I am glad that Jasper County is cleaning up the town of Colfax and getting rid of people distributing drugs to others.
